Introduce your business and tell us your story: How did you decide on what to sell, and how did you source your products?
I grew up skateboarding and decided to dabble in the concept. I was also extremely interested in collectable items and the music industry, so I mashed them together for my product line. My products were originally sourced locally from New York. Now they're sourced from around the country and printed by hand in-house.
How did you earn your first sales? Which channels are now generating the most traffic and sales for you?
We earned our first sales via word of mouth, but a lot of customers hear about us from the music industry clients we collaborate with.
Tell us about the back-end of your business. What tools and apps do you use to run your store? How do you handle shipping and fulfillment?
We use Mad Mimi for email marketing, Stamps.com & PayPal labels for shipping solutions. Shipping and fulfillment is all handled internally.
What are your top recommendations for new store owners?
Think hard about what you're going to do before investing the cash. Understand that the online sales business isn't always the most lucrative, especially when you're not selling wholesale products. Determination is your best friend.
