Hi, my name is Katie Steckly and I'm a social media marketing educator and I own a content creation agency that specializes in making content for influencers. Instagram has a new form of content on the app called reels. Reels are 10 to 30 second long videos that are in a vertical format that can be posted to your Instagram feed and have the chance to show up on the explore page, where they have the opportunity to be seen by thousands of potential new followers.
In this video, I'm going to be sharing three strategies you can start implementing right away to use Instagram reels to grow your business. Most content that you post to Instagram is going to be viewed by people who are already following you or potentially people that are browsing the hashtags or location tags that you use. However, reels presents a really unique opportunity to get your content in front of a huge audience of people who are not following you yet.
The more engaging your reels content is the more likely it is to be seen by more people. When a reel is particularly engaging, the Instagram explore page algorithm is more likely to show it to more people. By creating reels content that speaks directly to your ideal audience and is super engaging. You give yourself the opportunity to have your content seen by all kinds of new people who might just end up hitting that follow button. This can help you grow organically on Instagram, much faster than the other traditional formats, like feed posts or story posts.
Outside of the benefit of organic growth, reels can be a really fun and personal way for your audience to get to know you. If you feel like you're normally pretty professional with your feed posts or your story posts, reels can be your opportunity to show a little bit more personality and let your followers get to know you as a person. Don't be afraid to show your face, have fun and be a little bit silly. Reels are a more casual format. So that's the kind of content that people are going to expect from your reels.
And that helps people get to know you and feel like they like you, know you and trust you, which ultimately makes them more likely to become customers. Instead of feeling like you need to have this overly professional persona on your business Instagram use reels to show a little bit more of your personality and I think you'll be amazed at how much that makes your audience connect with you and become more engaged on all of your content. Since reels are a more casual kind of format on Instagram, this gives you the opportunity to show the behind the scenes or the real life application of your products or services.
This can come across as more real or relatable than overly styled, professional product photos, or commercial style videos. If you make a reel that feels like it's coming from a real person, it's filmed on a phone, it feels like real life, so it gives people a little bit more of an insight into what it would be like to actually purchase from you. This can make your products feel just a little bit more attainable and help people make that step to actually becoming customers.
Instagram reels is a unique opportunity for organic growth on Instagram. It allows you to get your content in front of the eyes of way more people than you otherwise would have.
