Shark Tank's Daymond John Partners with Shopify

Shark Tank's Daymond John Partners with Shopify

You probably know Daymond John from ABC's hit show Shark Tank, where entrepreneurs pitch a panel of investors (Robert Herjavec, Kevin O'Leary, Barbara Corcoran, Kevin Harrington, and Daymond John) for investment dollars. On the show he's well known as a multi-millionaire investor, but he's also an author, a motivational speaker, and the founder and CEO of international clothing brand FUBU. You can catch the season premier of Shark Tank Season 3 on Friday January 20th at 8pm EST.

Shark Tank's Daymond John Partners with Shopify

Today, we're happy to announce our partnership with Daymond John as a Shopify brand ambassador. Looking at Daymond's rise to riches it's clear he epitomizes the American Dream - he started from simple means in 1992 by borrowing $40 to buy fabric to sew some hats together with his next-door neighbour. They sewed 80 hats and sold them for $10 each - making $800 in one day. To date the company he founded, FUBU, has sold over $6 billion in apparel.

When Daymond started his career as a young entrepreneur, ecommerce didn't exist. He made his first sales, the $10 hats, in front of the old New York Coliseum, and relied entirely on oldschool word of mouth marketing. Things certainly have changed. Now, in addition to Shark Tank and FUBU, Daymond is advising clients all over the world with his company Shark Branding, and will be helping entrepreneurs start their business online with Shopify.

Here's a video clip of Daymond announcing his partnership with Shopify. You can get more information or start an online store here.

    ^^ Re: Stephanie

Sales Cure All – set up a store, and pre-sell your non existent product to generate the needed investment to start production. Better yet, start a kickstarter campaign in addition to your shopify store. That way you have the investment and the sales :-)

Stephanie: I agree with alex. bootstrapping your business can be a great way to launch and run a proof of concept. Barriers to entry into ecommerce and entrepreneurship have never been lower. hope that’s helpful :)

I just adore Daymond because he is spot on and it is fun to watch him on Shark Tank. I adore them all to be truthful. I love the show and thank you for bringing it back. I have designed my entire life. Today I own and it’s to raise money for charity. I soooooo want to be a hat designer more than anything. Daymond do you have any advise for me. I can design anything, anything. It is a gift I was born with and I have designed clothing, toys, lab instruments while a student at Smith College, window dressings and I mean expensive ones, competitive skating outfits. I work with pencil and rule because it is all in my head. I truly was born with the ability to design. More than anything, I want to be a hat designer and second a clothing designer. Do you have any advise Daymond. I may sound like I am boostful, but I have the talent, just don’t have the resources or the money. Any help would be welcomed for sure ;O)

Great, he is an inspiration. However what exactly will he be doing? How will he “will be helping entrepreneurs start their business online with Shopify”. Will he answer questions or blog somewhere? Will Shopify shop owners be able to pitch their stores to him? Please explain more!
